Last night, I went to the first Hip Hop Night at Mike's Place. I was excited to see Rebel Sun in action before he gets deported. Sadly, I might have missed the boat, because Rebel Sun wasn't there. Instead, I found Roy Edri, host of 24's Dibur Tzafuf, on the state, rocking out in an acoustic hip hop set. Seeing as how I was the only one in the room who owned his CD (and probably the only one in the country), he was excited to hear me singing along. So he was hella friendly, gave me his number, made friends with Cider, Makar, Annie and other Steph. Rock on.
Of course, the night turned sour by the end, when one of the jackasses at Mike's Place took the mic. This rapper, MC B-E-Double N-Y, decided to basically take the show over from Roy. One of his great rhymes was "ein aravim, ein peguim, it is no dream." Seeing as how this racist bullshit had no room at Roy's positive-vibe show, Annie and I started to boo, and then we stopped dancing and sat down. About 5 minutes later, Roy tried to take away the microphone, and Benny wouldn't let him! Finally, Roy took control, and told Benny that his negativity had no place at his show. Benny took the mic back, kept rapping about being a racist former Yeshuva bucher, blah blah, but Roy ended the night on a positive note. As he gave me and Annie hugs good night, he told us that he didn't want the racist stuff at his show. I wanted to ask him how he could be on a Subliminal album (yeled rehov, off of HaOr ve HaTzel), if he didn't buy the racist crap, but I'm still hoping he'll give me a job.
On a final note, I am surviving TRY. If you are my TRY/USY High hanich reading this, then it's the best program ever and I love you very much.
If you are not one of my hanichim, please come save me!

If you are one of Arie's camper's and want to get away with crap that you don't think he'd let you get away with, are too afraid to try anyway and are too chicken shit too ask, just remember this. Bring him a McDonald's McFlurry (any flavor) and then while he's eating it rub his belly. When he starts to purr, he's yours. Plan B: rufies.
I'd pay to see your hip hop moves. I'm sure they aren't at all awkward.
